Brass Artillery Aiming Circle / Range Finder THEODOLITE? This is a Extremely Scarce and Sophisticated piece of 19th century military equipment. The first of its kind to be used in Wartime application and still continue to be in different variations to this day. These beautifully constructed machined Brass Instruments were not produced in great quantity mostly because of the cost I imagine, and Very few of these still remain intact and in great condition as this one is. I do not see any notable damage the glass levels are all intact and seem to be working when using adjustment knobs that also seem to be moving freely. The sights seem general clear and clean with no cracks or hazing visible. Im no expert on this piece so Im just providing what info I was able to find. These well engineered instruments were given to and used by primarily the high ranking U. Military personnel such as Lieutenants, Cornels Generals ect… The dimensions of the unit are approximately 9h x 5w x 5L. The item “Artillery Aiming Circle/Range FinderVery Rare Brass O. S. 1817 G. A.
