1860 Cavalry Sword Is Marked “F T P C C” (First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry). The sword was mfg. By Ames and marked US, G. & 1865 on the ricasso and marked A. And another mark that looks like a deep stamped “0” on the pommel. Sword has markings on the front of the guard (see picture), indicating that it belonged to the “FIRST TROOP PHILIDELPHIA CITY CAVALRY” and a rack no. The First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry was organized in 1774, one of the first patriotic military organizations established in the American Revolution. Google this organization, it is still active and has an unbelievable history. Sword is 40-3/4 in. Long with a 35 in. Sword is in very good condition and comes with it’s original scabbard that has been refinished at some time.
