Original 1938 Carl AUBOCK Corkscrew KEY very rare WW2 version! Old original Carl AUBOCK. “Corkscrew – Key” – very rare World War II version. We are offering this original Auböck corkscrew in the shape of a key. The lower end can be used to open crown caps, whereas the screw inside the key is for opening regular corks. The design has been created in 1938 by Carl Auböck II. In the past years I bought and offered many old and original Carl Aubock key corkscrews. When I saw this I was pretty surprised by the open front end and asked Mr. Carl Auböck about the history of this version. He told me that this version is pretty rare, but 100% authentic. This an old piece from the 1940s, 70-90 years old, for this reason you will find regular signs of use and patina. The object was handmade in Austria in the Auböck workshop (Vienna, Bernardgasse) and marked with “Auböck”. The material is polished brass. The object is 117mm (about 4.6 inches) long. Er hatte zuvor ein Architekturstudium in Wien und den USA absolviert, was auch in seinen an das Industrial Design anschließenden Entwürfen zum Ausdruck kommt. Neben der Tätigkeit als Meisterklasseleiter an der Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Wien seit 1977 und seinem internationalen Engagement für Architektur, Design, Produktentwicklung und Forschung, entstehen laufend neue Modelle für die Kollektion der Werkstätte. In dieser Zeit entwickelt sich der Betrieb zu einer Produktionsstätte von internationalem Rang.
