PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE – very rare. Rectangular table clock with extract from archives, 1973 Very rare and unusual Patek Philippe Geneve table clock with gold-plated brass case and silvered dial, baton indices and gold Dauphine hands, central second, signed Patek Philippe and with the logo of the Swiss Bank Corporation. Early quartz movement, developed by Patek Philippe, similar to the “Chronotome C” type. The 10-kHz quartz frequency is reduced to 1 Hz, and is then amplified. This current drives a step motor, with the second hand jumping precisely every second. These clocks were manufactured in 1973 in a very limited series for the 75-year jubilee of the Swiss Bank Corporation. D 145 x 210 mm. Historical connection with the White House and the movie “The Butler” (2013). In the movie, “The Butler”, the actor John Cusack plays Richard Nixon. In one of the scenes in the oval room with Richard Nixon, you can actually see this specific Patek Philippe Quartz desk clock behind Richard Nixon (John Cusack), sitting at his desk – footage from this scene attached! If the props manager of this movie, Stephen Finders, did his job correctly, into the smallest detail, such should exist among the inventory of The White House, given, of course, that it was not a personal belonging to the President. To be noted: probably the most famous clock given to the President of the United States, was the so called “The Kennedy Clock”. This clock is a Quartz desk clock, displaying three time zones Washington DC, Moscow and Berlin. The clock was presented to President Kennedy by the German retailer and designer Hans Wipperfeld as a gift from the people of West Berlin on June 26, 1963, during President Kennedy´s state visite to West Germany.
