A very lovely and rare example of a High Sensitivity Galvanometer by the Cambridge Instruments Company. Made Circa 1910 in lacquered brass and fine grained Walnut, the instrument nameplate is engraved. Resistance 2318 ohms at 20deg. Instruments of this fine workmanship are very rare and in this condition even more so. The only one I know of of this precise design is in the British Science Museum. The mirror mechanism is intact, the clamp mechanism operates smoothly. The suspension would have to be re-strung if it was intended to be used. The instrument is free from any but the most minor cosmetic wear. The lacquer on the brass label is a little pitted, but overall the condition is remarkable as shown in the photographs. The instrument measures 13.1/2 high (34cm) and weighs 9kg packaged. A very rare object.
