History: Dallmeyer is one of the earliest british lens makers and besides Voigtländer one of the most renowned in the world. His lenses are known for absolute top of the line built and optical quality. The Dallmeyer B series was introduced for extra fast work (children portrait, animals and so on). Its super fast starting aperture of F3 allowed portraits in dim light situations and with a fantastic shallow depth of field. It will work really well for 5×7 but also for 8×10 portraits. If you want to see some results done by the 3B, just google Dallmeyer 3B for example images. Condition: This is a really rare specimen. The lens was Nickel coated and still shows great parts of the coating. Nickel coating was a rather rare technique back on those days, since it was really difficult to master and expensive. Only a few top of the line lenses were coated in such way to protect the brass. As for the condition: The glass is an great condition here, there are minimal cleaning marks, but they wont affect the image at all. There is no Haze, fungus or any significant damage to the glass. The image on the groundglass is tack sharp and has great petzval character on portrait range! Lens comes with a fitting flange. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
