Very Rare Antique WMF Silver Plated Cutlery Holder, Divider & Handle. Signed With a Very Rare WMF Mark. Here we have a fabulous and very rare and very old WMF silver plated cutlery holder, outer edge / rim has shaped spaces for spoons and forks and the bowl has been dived into two compartments, knife and forks. The base metal of the holder is brass and silver plated, it stands on five feet and the holder is highly decorated and looks amazing. Its WMF mark is very rare as the MF is joined, which denotes its 1880 -1886 manufacture date and being one of the earliest & rarest examples of the WMF mark. It does have some silver loss, around the top rim edge where the Spoons and forks hang and in the bowls base where the cutlery implements rest on the bottom. To be fare with a description the silver loss is generally minor patchy throughout, however mostly within the holder and the high spots on the handle. Please check the photos as these will give you a better indication. Height with handle : 20cm. Height without handle : 13cm. There is some silver loss, the worse being inside the cutlery bowl on the bottom where the knives and forks rest on the base. No dents or dints, no bends or buckles, the feet are strong and the base is sits even. All in all its a very nice and very rare old piece of WMF, it displays wonderfully and and shall last another 140 years.
