White King Zephyr – 1952 Prototype for Super 20 “Silversonic” Tenor Saxophone. Sterling Silver Bell & Double-Socket Neck. MINT condition – recently overhauled. This King Zephyr is a one-of-a-kind custom made or prototype “Silversonic” style horn with sterling silver bell & double socket neck from 1952. Manufactured prior to the famed Super 20 “Silversonic”, this is a super-rare instrument that is in mint condition and a true collector’s item. Recently overhauled with black kangaroo leather pads with star resonators, the horn sings with the bold, classic sound that King is famed for. As a professional player, this horn is one of the best playing King horns I’ve ever had the grace to play, having played literally hundreds of them over my career. The horn is in mint / museum level condition, especially for its age. The action is tight and the sound is absolutely incredible. Resonant, bold, full and brilliant, the horn sings from bottom to way into the altissimo ranges. The action is tight and quiet. Pads, corks, springs & felts are all in excellent condition. Horn was overhauled within the last few years and not played much following the overhaul. Both a collector’s item and real player, this is a rare gem of a horn.
