Very Rare Coach Leatherware Bonnie Cashin-designed Dark Brown Leather Weston Shopper Shoulder Bag. Another very early and rare Coach Leatherware bag. I was told it dates from the end of the Bonnie Cashin era, (possibly 1974) and before the Coach Creed numbers were revamped to represent dates and style numbers. You will see that it also pre-dates the’Made in NYC’ stamp, meaning it was made in the original New York City Workshop, and so did not need to be identified separately from the other US manufacturing locations. This bag comes from the extensive collection of an elderly friend who acquired more Coach and other high-quality bags than she can ever use, and most were purely for display. Sadly, she is slowly having to liquidate this collection to help pay down her rising medical bills. In my opinion, this bag is in very good vintage condition for a Fifty-year-old leather bag. I can see no tears, scratches or stains on the bag, but I can see some typical scuffs and feint usage marks, commensurate with the age of this bag. The zipper, straps and turn-lock, are all present and function correctly. The straps have a little age-fraying (see photo #12). The turn-lock is not original to the bag, and I was told was replaced with a stronger one, years ago by a professional Bag Repairer in Manhattan, after the first two turn-locks broke within three years.
