Brass Mortar and Pestle Rare Collectible Blacksmith Made Very Old
This rare, primitive mortar and pestle came from the collection of a pharmacist’s family estate. It is blacksmith-made from brass and thought to date back to the 16th century. The bottom is unmarked. Aside from its extremely heavy weight (roughly 10 pounds), the mortar’s most defining features are the handles that resemble the wings of a caduceus. The mortar measures roughly 4 3/4″ tall x 6 1/2″ diameter, wing to wing. The pestle is 9 5/16 long. Please see my other antique mortar and pestle offerings!
