This is a VERY Rare and Vintage mid 1960’s, Conn Connstellation Trumpet, Model # 38B… Essentially the 36B is the “lightweight” version of the 38B Connstellation and was produced from 1961 to 1979, the earlier models such as this one were absolutely the best of the breed! According to the Conn Company this model was designed for those players who prefer an instrument that is a little easier to fill in all registers, lighter to hold and provides a little more to “blow against” in the upper register yet also includes a fat lower register. As a large 5 1/8 bell. It has a #1 bore (0.438). A wide variety of expert opinions over all these years, have concluded that the 38B is in the same “elite” category as the well-known Bach Strads with the #37 bell. The bore compares similarly in the ML (Medium-Large) size, and the “blow” is similar with both horns. The tone on the 38B is somewhat on the brighter side, it slots well and is an excellent commercial and absolutely “legit” horn. This Trumpet has received a complete overhaul and restoration… Including a new silver plating with a gold wash inner bell. You will not find a finer horn… When purchasing a Vintage Trumpet. Two important criteria should exist… Functionality and Investment value… This one has both! This is a bargain… Grab one while they still exist.
