Charles I, brass pattern shilling or medal, 1628 by Nicholas Briot. This piece, which is usually found in silver, is sometimes considered a pattern for a shilling, beause the reverse design and legend is shared with the pattern halfgroat by Briot of the same period (two varieties: North 2684; Brooker 1254). VF, pitted with stable green deposit. Very rare, especially in this metal. M I I 250/27; SCBI Brooker 1260; North 2676.
