Continuing to clean out the train closet. Found some forgotten “brass from the past”. Key imported C&S 2-6-0s and 2-8-0s between 1982 and 1985. Built by Samhongsa, all of them had smooth mechanisms but tend to run on the fast side, due to the can motors of that time. The locomotive is unpainted brass, all details intact. The locomotive was test run prior to listing. It runs surprisingly well for a near 40 year old locomotive. The mechanism has no binds and is quite smooth. It is powered by a can motor with idler gearbox to the middle driver. Performance would likely improve with lubrication and run in. Aftermarket re-motoring/re-gearing kits were once offered by Locodoc. Com, don’t know if these are still available. I have test run the locomotive twice in the decade I’ve owned it. The prior owner likely didn’t run it much as there is no significant wheel wear. The nickel-silver plating on the drivers, wheel sets and side rods is intact. I can’t use it, can you? This is the rarest of the Key C&S locomotives imported, only 50 were made. The item “HOn3 brass Key C&S 2-8-0 number 58. Very rare, mint condition, runs well” is in sale since Sunday, October 31, 2021. This item is in the category “Toys & Hobbies\Model Railroads & Trains\Railroads & Trains\Locomotives”.
