LEICA SUMMILUX-M 1:1.4/50mm 11623 E46 Pre ASPH BLACK PAINT BOXED VERY RARE. YOU AND STAY SAFE. Only about 1000 units of this lens were ever made, making it a very rare and much sought after lens indeed. This lens is a marvel to look at: the beautiful black lacquered finish is shining new, and there are no signs of use anywhere. Optically glass is simply spotless: there are no scratches, no cleaning marks, no haze, no fungus, it’s just perfect. Blades are shining new. Mechanically everything is absolutely flawless; focussing is a breeze yet very firm and accurate, whilst the aperture ring swings beautifully smoothly and friction-free: amazingly, it all feels like using a brand new lens. Like its black anodised and silver chrome finish’standard’ production siblings, this lens has a built-in lens-hood, a E46 front lens thread and a 0.70 minimum focussing distance, however it sports a beautiful vintage style knurled focussing ring and is a little bit heavier than the standard version due to the extensive use of more brass instead of aluminium in order to allow for application of the black enamel finish. Surely one of the milestones of Leica glass design, optically this is also the lens with the longest production span in the entire Leica stable 1962-approx 2004! , a fact that clearly shows how good this lens was to Leica and how difficult it was to improve on it. Many users still prefer this version amazing boke-h and creamier, gentler looks over the somehow sharper but more clinical images of the current ASPH version.
