A very rare piece of sewing memorabilia by Avery & Sons. This is a match for the Avery & Son Needle case which was patented c. 1870, so assuming this is from the same year. The clip is in working condition apart from one side which has popped out of the side, if you see the bee there is a small hole where the brass button would normally sit, it is a very easy repair for someone with the right knowledge. Other than that there is no visible damage to the bee. It has the date diamond on one bee wing, however it is very hard to read. For anyone who has the needle case, this is a chance to get the pair.
