Antique 1868 era Carl Mahr Locomotive Calibration Tool. 4 Scale measurements Meter Baden Wurtte Engl. Offered is a extremely rare 1868 Carl Mahr locomotive calibration tool. This early tool was made when Carl Mahr first started making calipers for measuring parts for stem engine locomotives. They were 4 scale measurements made to order for the customer. This tool has Meter & Baden one one side and Wurtte & Engl on the other side. There is also scales on the inside of the slide on both sides. This brass and steel tool is in very good condition for it’s age. All calibration measurements are visible and the slide operates easily. There is no maker mark on this tool. My research is found from “Mahr Exactly” in PDF form “History of a family enterprise since 1861″. This exact caliper tool is seen on the first page of the document. This is a nice original rarely found early caliper tool for your collection or use. Don’t miss this one. I’ve been unable to find another one like this. Please contac t me if you have any questions.
