Brass maverick trade token, listed in the online token catalog from. There is only 1 token listed in the database from this very rare Placer County location. Charles Kappen did not have the town of Damascus listed in either of his reference books on California tokens. Also had a general store in Red Point (1907). Most of the mavericks that I’m listing came from the collections of California token collectors Ron Lerch & Duane Feisel and while many of these mavericks are being attributed to western states, the entire U. PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT MY OTHER ITEMS FOR MORE MIDDLE EASTERN / ISLAMIC ITEMS. For sale we have this EXTREMELY RARE and very unique antique early 19th century Islamic Damascus pair of vases. These vases are extremely rare. This sort of Damascus work was heavily influenced by the Persian designs and works. If you look closely at the figures and the Nastaliq style calligraphic script – these all resemble the qajar style of work as opposed to the typical Damascus work. This style of work are typically harder to find. Turquoise beads were rarely seen in Damascus or Cairoware pieces, so find find a pair like this is very very rare indeed! The vases have been hand chased with cartouches portraying figures such as Kings, and mythical beasts as well as different animals too. There are beautiful calligraphic panels with Nastaliq style script too. Lots of arabesque and geometric style hand chasings adorn the vases all over. The thick dark lines you see are all silver inlay. The flatter style you see were used in the earlier pieces. These vases dates from early – mid 1800’s and so the work is consistent with the era. I have not cleaned or polished the silver inlay as the natural patina looks very good. It adds more charm and character to these breathtaking vases. If you prefer, then I can of course clean the silver inlay for you. Don’t miss your chance to own these very unique and extremely decorative and rare vases! They will look stunning in any home and will be a fantastic addition to any collection. The height of the vases is 34.5. Cm = 13.6 inches. The vases are in good condition for their age. There is a dent on one vases which has been shown the last photo above. There are some missing turquoise / red beads. Tiny little chips on the rim of the base.
