State Capital Building at center, reverse picture of the old main building of the University of Texas. These popular tokens were in use during the period from 1883 to 1888 and were good for One Drink, as noted on the token’s reverse. The tokens are known in 4 different metals but typically found in German Silver. Those that are made of brass, copper or nickel-plated brass are considered to be either trial strikes or specimen strikes due to their rarity. This token is made of brass, Rulau reference Tx-Au-9 and was graded AU 55 by NGC (reference number 8414199-001). Only one other token in brass has been graded by NGC. Brass maverick trade token, listed in the online token catalog from. There is only 1 token listed in the database from this very rare Placer County location. Charles Kappen did not have the town of Damascus listed in either of his reference books on California tokens. Also had a general store in Red Point (1907). Most of the mavericks that I’m listing came from the collections of California token collectors Ron Lerch & Duane Feisel and while many of these mavericks are being attributed to western states, the entire U.
