VERY RARE 1800'S BRASS FINGER PRONG CUFFLINKS With GLASS & STONE FLORAL DESIGN
These extremely rare and beautiful cufflinks measure 3/4 square and are in excellent condition. The “Finger Prong’ closures may also be referred to as either “Flip Clip” or “Clipbacks. They are made of brass with a floral design with glass and stone inserts. The prongs function properly and have good snap for closure. I did discover, with a magnifying glass, an etched star on the inside of the prongs, but it was impossible to photograph them. PAIR OF BRASS FINGER PLATES. An opportunity to acquire a very unusual (and almost certainly rare) pair of mid 19th Century cast brass finger plates. This’pair’ were designed to be installed upon the same face of a door, either above and below the door handle or together above the handle. When fixed in this manner they have an arch at the top and bottom and the lower plate is correctly orientated! The lovely pierced design features a Neoclassical urn with swags and surrounding petals and foliate detail. Each plate has five countersunk fixing holes for small brass screws. The handle shown in one image is for illustration only. Date: mid 19th Century in an early 19th Century Regency style. The finger plates are in good antique condition, left uncleaned with antique tarnish. Dimensions of top plate: Height: 20.960 cm (8.252″) Width: 8.015 cm (3.155″) Thickness / projection: 0.746 cm (0.293). Weight: 549 g combined.

PAIR ANTIQUE BRASS FINGER PLATES & DOOR KNOBS BY CHRISTOPHER DRESSER. An opportunity to acquire an ULTRA rare pair of exceptional quality late Victorian Aesthetic Movement brass & copper 12 finger plates and door knobs, almost certainly by the sought-after genius designer: Christopher Dresser, for Benham & Froud. The bi-metal manufacturing design is beautifully crafted in brass and copper, the finger plates have the maker’s mark (orb & cross) stamped on the rear and a patent number on the front face. The pair of knobs don’t have a maker’s mark but were supplied (and probably reclaimed) together with the finger plates. The finger plates each have four fixing holes as do the knobs which are not sprung. Date: late 19th Century Aesthetic Movement circa 1880. The finger plates are in exceptional (museum quality in my opinion) condition with no loss of detail. They have been lightly and sensitively cleaned on the front face but exhibit tarnish on the rear. The knobs are in fair to good condition but each one has a mildly depressed section in the copper face. Dimensions per finger plate: Height: 30.551 cm (12.028″) Width: 7.579 cm (2.983″) Thickness: 0.164 cm (0.064). Dimensions per handle: Backplate diameter: 5.960 cm (2.346″) Knob diameter: 5.299 cm (2.086″) Projection: 6.661 cm (2.622). Weight: 1046 g combined (4 pieces plus door handle bar).
