Patriotic Civil War Token. Fuld 131/217b R-8 PCGS MS-66 Very rare Lincoln variety, Finest Known among all certified tokens, housed in Bowers signature holder. This token was created by Philadelphia token maker F. This die combination was used to strike copper, brass, white metal, and silver tokens and all four varieties are very rare. This token is certified by PCGS as brass, but it has the appearance of a bimetallic token with a copper obverse and brass reverse. According to the PCGS Population Report, this is the finest known among all tokens certified by PCGS for all four varieties. According to the NGC Census, only one silver token of the four varieties has been certified as MS-66 among all four varieties. That token and this token are tied for finest known among all certified tokens for all four varieties. This is a gem quality token. It is housed in a Bowers signature holder. The reverse die, with a strongly worded message to Southern sympathizers, was used in combination with obverse dies from multiple New York City token makers for Civil War token production. The obverse die features masonic symbols. This die combination is extremely scarce when found in copper and very rare in all other compositions. This beautiful uncirculated specimen is conservatively graded and among the finest known in the NGC Census. As noted on the slab label, it was previously in the collection of Donald Partrick.
