Antique FRENCH Gothic Style Silvered/Gilded Brass CLOCK by CCH 1880 VERY RARE
LISTEN to YouTube VIDEO of a UNIQUE, OUTSTANDING & HANDSOMELY designed highly ornamental RARE FRENCH GOTHIC HIGH-STYLE chiming wall clock, with movement by the FRENCH master clockmaker; clock case conceived in silver plated pewter & gilded brass containing all FRENCH Gothic references. (identifying seal contained on backside of movement) solid brass plate 14-day wind 2-train suspension spring FRENCH movement in unrestored FANSASTIC condition; 4 ¼” diameter ceramic chapter ring with black FRENCH Gothic stylized Arabic numerals (center portion contains 1 ¾” diameter polished gilded brass floral designed rosette); clear convex beveled front viewing glass (scratch free) sets into silvered hinged frame which snaps shut on the right side, surrounded by a narrow silvered trim ring protruding ½ from clock case face; exceptionally designed clock case executed in the FRENCH Gothic style includes silver plated pewter & gilded brass decorative cast metal throughout; FRENCH Flur de Lys motifs are repeated in almost EVERY decorative detail found on all sides, top & bottom; decorative reliefs mounted above & below the dial; 4 stepped & pointed Gothic spires are found above & below the clock case; hour & minute hands are ornately designed in the FRENCH Gothic style & finished in black color; a pair of griffins sit proudly on side mounted platforms held up by dolphins; pair of lion silhouettes hold the FRENCH coat of arms topped with the King’s crown located above the clock dial; adjustable brass pendulum weight in addition to a FAST/SLOW front mounted gear located above the 12 o’clock position; both movement & chime assemblies are mounted securely to clock case. LISTEN to YouTube VIDEO of this rare clock chiming. Chiming correctly & running on time. Proper winding key included. APPROXIMATE DIMSIONS: height 29″ x width 11 ½” x depth 11 ½. This clock comes from my collection & has been running successfully for several years with no difficulties. It has been tested prior to this offering. Clock set-up to establish the correct “beat” is paramount to the clock’s operation, accomplished through placement & leveling. Additionally, temperature & humidity may affect it over time as well. Do not over wind the clock. “Antique”, “Vintage” & “Pre-Owned”. Clocks are expected to have age related imperfections which provide additional character to the clock. Consequentially, reasonable wear and tear is to be expected. An attempt to describe & photograph each clock in the best possible manner has been completed. Any major defect will be stated & a photo associated with this defect is provided which is intended to illustrate the extent of the defect. Unless stated otherwise, all clocks are tested & found in good working order when listed. The clock must be on a level surface to run properly. Sometimes, slight adjustments may be required after transit to get the clock running properly in its new position. “Antique”, “Vintage” & “Pre-Owned” clocks are delicate instruments; no guarantees are given or insinuated regarding performance AFTER transit. Lastly, be aware that “Antique”, “Vintage” & “Pre-Owned” clocks generally don’t keep perfect time.
