Very Rare Late 19th Century Antique Brass Lamp Shade Middle Eastern Moorish Moroccan. 30cm wide at the base. Please message me for details! This very unusual and highly decorative lamp shade has been beautifully hand crafted from Brass and depicts humans, animals and birds entwined in floral backgrounds and Islamic script and symbols. This lampshade can stand on the floor or hang and originally there would have been a tallow / oil lamp placed inside – access through the little door – but we have always used a lightbulb (no electrics supplied). The internal light source sends out beams of light through the pierced sections of the lamp sending patterns of light all around the room. It’s a truly wonderful spectacle to behold. What makes this highly unusual is the sheer size of this impressive floor lamp thats entirely covered in a wonderfully intricate pattern. It is an outstanding example of Late 19th Century Middle Eastern craftsmanship. Considering it’s age this is in amazing condition. IVES #601 Dual Arc Street Light, Restored, Middle Period, VERY VERY RARE & NICE
Listed is a restored #601 IVES Dual Arc Street Light. This is a very rare item to find complete and it has all of its parts. Everything was stripped to bare metal, any corrosion was removed and it was primed & painted with the correct matching paint. Period correct cloth covered wiring was used. All hardware was either replaced, cleaned & polished with period correct square nuts being used. This is a beautiful item and is a restoration and not a paint over. You will notice that all of the lamp parts are present, including the brass lamp shade & the metal covering the lamp socket. Most you find have these missing from lamp socket. For sale a very rare Arabian Astrolabe from the 18th century! In the Islamic world, astrolabes were used to find the times of sunrise and the rising of fixed stars, to find their way to Mekka for the Hadj and to help schedule morning prayers. This is an outstanding brass Arabian Astrolabe, being 5 1/2 in diameter, signed by the maker, with zodiac engraving and further written and decorative engraving all over the front, side and back of this instrument. There is a recessed compass in the instrument. Historically, each Arabian Tribe Master had one of these astrolabes to help him navigate either on land or in water. Instruments were given from Master to successor and therefor very rare. Modern Astrolabes are still appreciated in the Arabian world for their unique capabilities and their value for astronomy education. Similar Astrolabe or Sundial can be found in the Miraj museum of Abu Dhabi.
