MY Grandfather was born 1901 he passed away when he was 96 this was in his home and then i got it and kept it for 25 years. Unsure if it has been in the family before him. I do not believe there was any coins ever in this.

All complete including patent burner, additional reflector plate, two gauzes, brass cut off ring opens and locks. One hairline crack to bonnet – as far as I know these lamps were not badged. Only had a basic clean – have not tried to undo the bonnet and the sliding locking ring does has not been freed. This is not a working shell. It’s inert and hollow as seen in the picture. I repeat, INSANE ITEM! This lamp was made from a spent WWI era shell. I’m told it was used both in the WWI field and later as a US mining lamp. This is our favorite lamp from the estate. We are NOT old lamp or mining equipment collectors or experts.
