This antique pliers type nutcracker is a rare find for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Made of brass with a gold color finish, it features three rows of radiating “teeth” and weighs 11 ounces. The nutcracker has an item length of 6 and 1/2 inches and measures 12 and 1/2 inches when open. The item is perfect for those who enjoy cracking nuts and shells with ease. Its interior detail and making method make it a unique vintage example that is sure to impress. This nutcracker is a great addition to any kitchen tool and gadget collection, and is perfect for use at home or in a dining establishment. This curious “Walnut shaped” nutcracker is. V E R Y R A R E! I have been on the internet and. (b) looked at over 1000 listings on antique web sites. There are lots of “walnut shaped nutcrackers”, but there is not one for sale on the internet today that looks like this one! It was always such fun to crack the shell and dig out the delicious nuts! Its [sic] a bonus the eating unprocessed nutmeats is a healthier alternative to the salty, processed nuts available in stores today. This would make a lovely Hostess gift, just tie a pretty ribbon around them for presentation. Measures approximately 6.5″ x 2″ x 1.75. It’s well documented and VERY similar to our “walnut shaped nutcracker”. Canaletto is a one-of-a-kind Nutcracker realised in the late 40s by a local artisan living in the Italian Alps. This nutcracker is entirely realised in precious and solid heavy brass. It comes in the shape of a nut with two handle that permits to easily crack your favourite dry fruits such as almonds and nuts. It comes in really good conditions with an elegant patina that well represents the antique age of this precious piece. Solid brass Mid Century Italian. There are many similar to this one but there are definitely differences. The shape of the interior cracking jaws is the obvious originality. Are the handles “decorated”? (plain, abstract, textured.). What material is used? Brass, Bronze, Cast Iron, Chrome, “Silver Tone”, even wood. The shape of the interior cracking jaws. Pictures 1 to 4 above are of Daphne’s Nutcracker! Picture 5 shows a textured handle on a walnut shaped nutcracker. NOT the pattern on Daphne’s nutcracker! I have this nutcracker for sale because. Daphne Gie bequeathed it to us! Daphne was a “proper” English private-school teacher who collected “nutcrackers”. Daphne taught art to 9 and 10 year olds – and didn’t love children. She loved Afghan Hounds. I met Daphne, who was a generation older than me, through my interest in Afghan Hounds. She literally wrote the book on Afghans! When Daphne died she left her nutcracker collection – and her house in Australia to me and my husband. As I approach the task of finding homes for the things I collected e. Antique maps, 18th C glass and silver, and pewter ice cream molds, I realize that I need to find homes for Daphne’s treasures too: Move them on to the next generation to be held, and appreciated. I started with the “naked lady” and moved on to the “dog” – even if it isn’t an afghan! Daphne bought this walnut shaped nutcracker in the 1940’s! It wasn’t her favorite nutcracker, but it was clearly “special” to her. That does NOT MEAN I do not know what these things are worth – so please do not insult Daphne’s memory with lowball offers. While doing research for the UNTOUCHABLE production and series I discovered a picture of Al Capone talking on a polished brass dial candlestick. I can imagine the fate of a telephone representative telling Al he could not have one. My company CHICAGO OLD TELEPHONE CO supplied over 60 telephones for the productions including a beautiful solid brass one for ALS scenes. In the early days multiple line telephones were not yet developed. Locations requiring more than one line were supplied with several telephones. Some types: COW BELLS, LIBERTY BELLS, SLEIGH BELLS, “T” BELLS, WOOD BELLS, GLASS BELLS, very rare ones like on this telephone and several sizes of round bells. Early #2 dials had the finger stop mounted on the outside of the dial. This prevented their use on later recessed dial. Telephones like the type 202 and others. During WW2 telephones could not be produced for the public so many dials were converted to type 4 and installed on older telephones. You can still see the screw holes on the side of this dial. Very Rare Paul McCobb Walnut and Pomona Tile Table Lamp Mid-Century Modern Eames

This is an extremely rare and impressive Mid-Century Modern large lamps designed by Paul McCobb in 1957 for the Distinguished Designer Series by the Pomona Manufacturing Company, featuring inset “Roulette” glazed ceramic tiles in the original red-orange hues. Each lamp features a triangular solid walnut body with brass toned decorative elements. Other notable designers that were hired to create tiles for the series were Dorothy Liebes, Saul Bass, Paul Laszlo, Millard Sheets, Dong Kingman and George Nelson. Height listed below is to the top of the shade; height to socket is 31.5 inches. Same lamps sell for thousands. Literature: Art & Architecture, June 1957 issue, two page Pomona Tile ad. In overall good original vintage condition. May show some signs of wear, marks, etc. Consistent with age and use. A wonderful addition to almost any style.
