Up for sale is an extremely scarce, investment-grade, large brass combination navigation bow lantern manufactured by Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation of Brooklyn, New York, circa 1916. According to Anthony Hobson, author of “Lamps that Lit Our World, Book Two, ” this is the rarest lantern manufactured by Perkins. On page 88 of said volume, Hobson includes an image of one and classifies them as very rare. This fine example is in astonishing overall condition with excellent Fresnel lenses and retains its original burner. The access door is stamped, “M’F’R’D BY PERKINS MARINE LAMP CORPRN” under which is BROOKLYN – NEW YORK. ” The unit stands 10″ tall (14″ including the bail), is 10 1/4″ wide, and 8 1/4 deep and weighs 5 lbs. NOTE: The three specks on the lenses, as seen in the tenth image, two on the blue lens and one on the red lens, were readily removed once noticed.
