We never knew this model natural horn existed before Richard Seraphinoff started building the Kerner model replicas. These “transitional” natural horns span the gap between the small, open baroque horns and larger early romantic natural horns with tuning slides. On this horn Dr. Hampson has performed an all Mozart program consisting of Bb alto, G, F, Eb and C basso, and prepared Haydn programs in C alto, A, G, F#! , E, D and C basso. A wonderful playing horn with an impressive and solid high register. The Kerner model was used in Esterhazy around 1760 in Haydn’s orchestra, and this “transitional” model continued into the 19th century, so it is great for all Germanic natural horn literature. Richard Seraphinoff masterfully restored this horn, supplying it with a large number of crooks and couplers from his Kerner model. C alto, Bb alto, A , G, and 5 couplers for F, E, Eb, D, C and Bb basso. G with the 5 couplers above for the lower keys. Comes with 3 tuning bits that go in between the crook/couplers, and 1 tuning bit for the mouthpiece. Amazing collector’s item – the only surviving Stöhr horn of this design (to our knowledge).
