A very rare antique French carriage clock which features a dial at the front and at the back of the case with the winding and setting of the hands done underneath the case, presumably would have been used on a partners desk! Offered in working order and okay condition with winding key. I have not seen another clock like this before and have not found anything online similar. It looks like any other carriage clock from the front or the back. One of the dials is marked Brevete S. G. D. G. In my opinion this clock dates from the turn of the nineteenth century. The clock appears to be fitted with its original lever platform escapement and it is running albeit gaining a few minutes per day. The hands are set from under the case whence the clock is also wound and there is a lever for adjusting the timekeeping. Condition is okay with a little wear to the cases lacquered finish; a chip to a side glass and hairlines to the second quadrant of one of the dials. A service recommended too. Weighs 1.1kg before wrapping. Stands 5.75″ (14.5cm) high, 3″ (8cm) wide and 3 (7.5cm) deep. Please have a good look at the pictures and message me should you require more information.
