VERY RARE JOHN OTAR ART DECO COPPER AND BRASS STACKED CIGARETTE BOX. Rarely found, an original 1935 brass and copper Art Deco cigarette box designed, patented and made by John Nicholas Otar, a Russian immigrant who worked in Santa Cruz, California in the 1920s and 1930s. Individual brass and copper triangular plates are stacked to create spiral form. Signed on the base and lid in a triangle: Otar, USA, Pat. No dents or breaks. Has not been professionally cleaned. Approximately 5 1/2 tall including finial………. The cup made to hold the cigarettes has a small amount of play…. Not sure if it was made that way or a little loose. I see no break from the stem…. I have had this piece for years and it has never been polished or cleaned but should polish up very nicely. I leave that to you.
