VERY RARE VINTAGE’THE QUEEN’S LION’ SOLID BRASS BOOKENDS – CIRCA 1955 Each bookend measures approximately 5 1/4″ high by 4 3/4″ wide. Excellent original condition right down to the original red felt on the undersides. Each bookend is inscribed with the phrase The Queen’s Lion. I believe that these bookends were made sometime not long after Queen Elizabeth II was crowned Queen of England in 1953. The bookends show sejant erect lions (that’s the closest description to the lion’s posture) which it would seem reflect a coat-of-arms depiction.
