Though it’s been almost 9 years, it still feels like it was just yesterday. We both loved animals, gardening, wine, scotch, cars and of course collecting things. We had 3 wonderful rescue dogs, Rocky (pit mix) Angel (German Shepherd) and Bailey (German Shepherd Mix) who rescued who? That we called our children. Two of our babies (Rocky & Angel) were foster failures that we adopted right after adopting our 1st pup. Our love for animals were endless, unfortunately, both of our foster failures crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Angel age 7 June of 2019 and Rocky age 9 January 2020 both to Cancer. I’m so heartbroken but have some comfort knowing they are playing ball and chasing squirrels with my husband. I still have my sweet girl Bailey and we adopted a mastiff/lab named Bruno who is now 110 lbs. Rescuing and helping animals in need was a priority and we took in bottle babies puppies that were orphaned till they were old enough to get forever homes. We lost several pups due to distemper (an inexpensive shot that had it been given to the mother prior to pups being born would have saved their lives and kept them from a horrible death). Each puppy got lots of love and when we lost one it was heartbreaking. I have every one of those boxes still and if all goes well, will have a little cemetery created on the property where they can be laid to rest. We had 4 horses, 2-Tenn. Walker so went & got himself Jazz. My husband never knew how to ride but within one year (rode Dakota who was awesome for him) was riding really well and when we needed to get Jazz retrained due to abuse he had prior to us getting, our trainer got both horses into shows. My late husband wasted no time in wanting to compete, where me, even though I knew how to ride, was a bit nervous about competing. Rick was a happy man when he and Jazz brought home some blue ribbons. Unfortunately Rick passed without seeing that his Jazz at the end of the year got high points winner and we got a beautiful sliver buckle. My husband and I always believed in giving back no matter what our financial situation was. With that, we volunteered and gave to our rescues and did anything we could for our 1st responders and military. We both felt so blessed & lucky to have been born in the United States and wanted to let our military know it too and thank them for their sacrifice. With that said, all my listings will have a portion of the proceeds go to either a K9 rescue, K9’s helping Vets and or Missing in America Veterans Recovery Project. A program that recovers unclaimed Veterans who have passed and give them a proper military burial. I know my husband would be happy knowing things he loved and cherished will not only be going to wonderful homes but also benefit a worthy cause.
