This listing is for an Antique Bronze or Brass Owl Ashtray with a lovely Granite / Marble Base. It has a Very Detailed design, with attention especially paid to the talons, feathers, and face of the owl. He has a pleasingly plump body, which is unfortunately not signed by the artist who designed him. I estimate this piece to be from the 1920s-40s, though I suspect the owl to be older (perhaps pre-1900) and the base could be a more modern replacement. It is a fantastic item for collectors of many genres, an item to proudly display as decor or for continued use. It is in very good condition, with no major damage. The owl is in excellent condition. It is attached by means of a threaded post on the base of the owl, which screws to a nut on the bottom of the base. When discovered, this post was broken, and has since been sturdily repaired. The original looked to be pretty old, and the nut may have been hand made. There are some very small nips in the base behind the talons, from him shifting a little on his roost, this detail is easily missed. No other chips or cracks to the base.
