FANTASTIC & VERY RARE 19TH CENTURY BRASS COMPOTE WITH FACES & HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN PLATE Here i s an exqui site piece of 19th century metal and p orcelain craftsmanship at its best! This wonderful brass c ompote features a highly detailed design which in cludes human faces – also k no wn as masks – in each corner as well as a decorative hand painted p orcelain plate in the center. Unfortunately, the plate is mounted permanently in such a way that one cannot see who the maker or artist is. The plate as seen in the brass mounting is in excellent original condition with no visible chips or cracks. This highly decorative piece could also be used a s a centerpiece bowl or a calling card tray. Th is compote measures. 7 ¾ high by 10. Wide by 10 ¾ deep.
