Very Rare 19th Century Friendly Society Brass Pole Head Early Pierced Hood Arms
VERY RARE 19TH CENTURY FRIENDLY SOCIETY BRASS POLE HEAD EARLY PIERCED HOOD ARMS. A rare 19th Century friendly society brass pole head from Kilve Friendly Society, Somerset. The headquarters was’The Hood Arms’. This is an earlier version of the Hood Arms pole head, this being a more stylised example of the chough bird and anchor, with the Hood Arms unusually pierced. I haven’t seen this example before. Generally in very good condition. The neck of the’chough’ bird must have been a little stressed or weakened, so the back has seen some strength added using brass and solder, the odd spot of solder shows through at the front. It has been clearly cared for over the years, and this has been done to retain it’s condition for many more years to come. Please see all pictures. 8.5 inches high x 7 inches wide. Thank you for viewing my listing. Please take a look at my. For more horse brasses and other horse brass related items.
