Holders Very rare See photos below. Some fading on brass plating. The Merkel brand was founded in 1900 by Ferdinand Merkel, in Tharandt, Germany. At the end of the 1930s, he built this tropical Minerva Camera. It is beautifully made, combining brass, precious wood and Havana-colored leather. It seems that the Minerva is the tropicalized version of the Merkel Tak, because there are very many similarities with the colonial Merkel Tak.
