This vintage letter opener is an estate sale find, and a VERY rare Van Erp piece to come by nowadays! It has normal scratches and wear for its age, but overall is in solid shape. Based on the hallmark stamp, this was the last in the series of hallmarks from Dirk Van Erp, and this would have been produced after he had passed and his son William Van Erp had taken over the business.
