Rare Indian Vajra mushti bichwa khanjar. Up for sale Unique n rare nice small Vajra musti bichwa dagger is designed to fit over fist. Handle is solid brass, surmounted by two birds suggesting a Tanjore origin, brass handle has hand engraved design both side. Hilt is attached with 4 iron domed tips and lower end with 1 iron tip, properly forming punching dagger. Steel blade is riveted to grip, blade has raised fuller and armor piercing tip. Full piece is rusty and has patina. The name of the martial art is derived from the Sanskrit word, Vajra, which means Thunderbolt or Diamond and is of much religious significance in both Hinduismand Buddhism; and the Sanskrit word Mushti, which means closed or clenched fist. Thus Vajra Mushti literally means Thuderbolt fist or Diamond Fist. The ancient Indian martial art form known as Vajra Mushti can be traced back to the 5th century. Vajra Mushti is eloquently described in the Buddharata Sutra, which is considered as the one of the earliest transcripts of the Kshatriya caste. It was ardently practiced by a group of wrestlers, called Jyesti Malla, who would fight by holding the a small dagger in one hand. Thus it was named Vajra Mushti.
