Antique Briddell 15 meat Cleaver. Made in America since around 1900, this cleaver is not stamped made in USA indicating it was made prior to 1940. It measures 15″ corner to corner the blade is approximately 8″ x 3 1/2-4 3/4. The blade and tang are 1/4 thick solid steel. Despite it’s massive weight of nearly 3 pounds it is well balanced and a true example of craftsmanship. The simple yet highly functional and powerful industrial design of the Briddell cleaver was so celebrated that it is part of the permanent collection at New York’s. The tang extends through the handle which is attached with large brass rivets. This is truly a work of art, they just don’t make things like they used to. It is exactly as I found it, still sharp, I have not cleaned it. See photos for condition.
