It is also marked on the throat of the scabbard P. This awesome piece has a 16 ½ blade is fairly bright with staining and is fullered on each side. The spine of the blade is marked D. Nohascheck Hofschwertfeger – Mainz and may have been issued by one of the Imperial states such as Bavaria or Wurttemberg. The one piece brass handle, D guard and cross guard have a beautiful old patina and a nice tight fit. Brass tipped leather scabbard is also fine condition with all tight stitching and tight throat and tip. Leather is soft and supple with a nice original finish, scabbard locks onto brass tab of grip. Beautiful early German short sword that may have been issued to artillery, police or engineers.
