Conn 6M “VIII” aka… Standard, artist model, Naked Lady, lady face, lady on the bell, etc. The Conn 6M has always been regarded as one of the best saxophones ever made. The early pre-WWII Conn 6Ms with the Conn Rolled Tone Holes, plus the limited edition stamped “VIII” (on both the body & neck), plus silver-plating with gold-washed inner bell is known to be the “best of the best”, and most desirable edition of the 6M. The silver plating (98%+) is in mint condition. No silver pitting issues. The original key plating is really clean with minor silver wear on a few keys. There’s hardly any noticeable silver rubbing-off wear on the body of this one. As you can see the prominent Naked Lady engraving is sharp and clean. Minor scratches/dings that are common for this vintage (see photos). Original Conn key pearls and rollers. Nice (far better than most) condition for its 80+ years of age, and the unmistakable Conn pinky table keys are in decent alignment – unlike a lot of other 6Ms. Double-socketed neck; no evidence of pull-down; some dings; fully operational Conn micro-tuner adjuster; the 6M sax has a completely unique & sleek neck design with the hidden underslung octave key. Both the sax body and neck are stamped “VIII”. Rolled tone holes – a unique feature and they are much easier on the key pads. Good leather pads with Conn appropriate. Silver-plated Conn saxophones are valued significantly higher, are heavier, and are known to resonate & sound superior. Plays very well, in tune, with that awesome resonant Conn sound! Charlie Parker (aka “Bird”) played a Conn 6M… Silver plated professional vintage saxophones – especially ones this clean – really stand out from the crowd, both visually and sonically. Vintage pro saxophones this special don’t come along every day, make an offer.. Perfect time to play a killer sax! As with any vintage instrument adjustments are to be expected. Includes a case and it will be packed well. The item “VeryRARE silver-plate 1940 Conn 6M VIII Naked Lady rolled tone hole pro alto sax” is in sale since Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
